CONVOCATION 2021-2022

The convocation day is a momentous occasion in the academic journey of law students. This report highlights the convocation day event of LLB/BLS students in Navi Mumbai, providing an overview of the ceremony, key participants, speeches, and memorable moments.

The convocation day of LLB/BLS students took place on 27th May 2023 at Vishnu Das Bhave in Navi Mumbai. The event aimed to acknowledge the achievements of the graduating students and mark the successful completion of their legal education.

LLB students who successfully completed their academic requirements and were eligible for graduation.

Eminent legal professionals, judges were invited for the distribution of convocation certificates.

The convocation day of LLB/BLS students in Navi Mumbai was a memorable event, marking the culmination of their legal education and the beginning of their professional journey. The ceremony provided an opportunity for students to reflect on their achievements, express gratitude, and celebrate their success with their loved ones. It served as a moment of inspiration, fostering connections with the legal community and igniting a passion for pursuing excellence in the field of law.

Annual Convocation 2019-2020

The Oriental Education Society’s Oriental College of Law along with Sanpada College of Commerce and Technology, Oriental College of Pharmacy, Oriental College of Education and Oriental College of Management organized Degree Distribution Ceremony on 30th December, 2019 at Cidco Exhibition Centre, Vashi.
The Guest of Honour was Prof. Javed Khan President along with Waseem Khan General Secretary, Oriental Education Society. The Chief Guest of the Occasion was Hon’ble Dr. Balchandra Mungekar Ex-Vice Chancellor University of Mumbai, Hon’ble Shri. Sanjay kumar Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai and Hon’ble Dr. Haidar-E-Karrar Principal, Burhani College Byculla, Mumbai.
The Degrees were handed over to all the Graduate students from various streams of Oriental Education Society. We at Oriental College of Law wished all the Students better future prospects and wishes in life.

OCL organised Orientation program for the students of 1st year BLS. LL.B and LL.B on 5th Oct, 2019

The Oriental college of Law organised Orientation program for the students of 1st year BLS. LL.B and LL.B on 5th October, 2019 at 10:00am. The Chief Guest for the Orientation Program was Dr. Prof. Rashmi Oza Madam, former HOD, Dept. of Law, Mumbai University.

The chief guest was felicitated by Dr. P. Y. Gaonkar, Principal, Oriental College of Law. Madam further guided students for the career in Law and future scope in Legal field. The students were also informed about the newly introduced 60:40 pattern and warmly welcomed the students.

The program ended with vote of thanks.

OCL organised intra college moot court competition on 30th Sept. 2019

Oriental College of Law, Sanpada organised intra college moot court competition on 30th September 2019.The moot problem was based on criminal law and juvenile Justice Act. Hon’ble ex-judge and eminent academician Dr. D.K. Sonawane was invited to judge the event.

The event started with felicitation of honourable judge by welcome speech Dr. P.Y Goankar principal, oriental college of law felicitated our chief guest with a floral bouquet .Dr Prakash Deshmukh was also invited for the event .He was felicitated by vice principal Mrs Rupali Jamode.

Welcome speech was delivered by Prof Prajakta Shelke. Thereafter the competition started. Total nine teams participated in the competition .It was followed by motivational speech by Hon’ble chief guest Dr D.K Sonawane. The event ended by distribution of participation certificates as well as certificates for Best Mooter, Best Researcher and Best Memorial. Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Alpana Choudhary

The Oriental College of Law organised its 1st Parents Teachers Meeting on 28th September, 2019 at 11:00 am for the students of BLS 4th year and BLS 5th Year.

The Oriental College of Law organised its 1st Parents Teachers Meeting on 31st August, 2019 at 11:00 am for the students of BLS 2nd year and BLS 3rd Year.

REPORT ON BOOK EXHIBITION

Book Exhibition was organized in Oriental College of Law in coordination with Library Committee in the college premises on 2/4/2019 at 10.00am to 4.00pm which was initiated by Jai Ambe Book agency, Reader’s World and Himalaya publishing house Put Ltd. The main objective of Book Exhibition is not only the sale but also to display Law books, Reference books and other General books with latest editions.

All Faculties were participated in Book Exhibition. They compared the books of same title with other authored books and selected best out of it. They have selected around 15 titles. Students also participated in Book Exhibition, this opportunity benefits an individual to wider his/her knowledge.

The event was organized in order to bring outer exposure to its students, to sow the seed of interest and to enhance their knowledge. Hence, the event turned out to be a grand success.

Debate Competition-DECRIMINALISATION OF INDIAN POLITICS

The Oriental College of Law organised intra-college parliamentary debate competition on the topic of DECRIMINALISATION OF INDIAN POLITICS, wherein students from all the batches i.e. 3yrs LL. B and 5yrs BLS. LL. B participated in huge number.

The competition included: –

  • Question Hour- Restriction imposed by the govt. on social media through an Amendment.
  • Zero Hour- Funding of Political Parties

Which was similarly depicting the INDIAN PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM. The Speaker and Protem Speaker who also judged the competition were Prof. Savitri Dhanesha and Prof. Santosh Mishra.

The best 5 speaker were awarded in the intra-college parliamentary debate competition and the best team were the opposition.

The session ended with the National Anthem

ANNUAL CONVOCATION CEREMONY - 2019

The Oriental Education Society’s Oriental College of Law along with Sanpada College of Commerce and Technology, Oriental College of Pharmacy, Oriental College of Education and Oriental College of Management organized Degree Distribution Ceremony on 16th February, 2019 at Cidco Exhibition Centre, Vashi.

Ltd, Hon’ble Dr. Ms. Karuna Gupta Principal of Guru Nanak College of Education and Research and Hon’ble Dr. Haidar-E-Karrar Principal, Burhani College Byculla, Mumbai.
The Degree was handed over to all the Graduate students from various streams of Oriental Education Society. We at Oriental College of Law wish all the Students all luck and wishes in life.

National consumer day lecture - 24/12/2018

The Oriental College of Law celebrated national consumer day by organising a guest lecture on Consumer Protection Act, 1986 on 24th December, 2018. The guest was welcomed by the principal, Oriental College of Law Dr. P. Y. Gaonkar. The guest further shared his knowledge about consumer rights, how to file the complaint and be the King of the Market.

Digi Law Software - 22/12/2018

The Workshop on Library software named Digital Law was organised by the Librarian Kalpana Gaikwad of Oriental College of law on 22nd December, 2018. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Shailesh Kadam of the Digital Law Organisation who was welcomed by the Principal Oriental College of Law Dr. P. Y. Gaonkar. The Students were explained about the uses of the software for the research of Landmarks Cases decided by High Court, Supreme Court. The Personnel also provided software to the Students for their future reference.

Orientation for 1st year BLS. LL.B and LL.B - 18/12/2018

Orientation program was organised by the Oriental College of Law for the 1st year BLS &LL.B Students on the 18th December, 2018.

The day was honoured by the Former Civil Judge Mumbai Dr. D.K. Sonawane and Advocate Dr. Prakash Deshmukh. The Guest was welcomed by the Principal, Oriental College of Law Dr. P.Y. Gaonkar and Vice-Principal Mrs Rupali Jamode and other Staff at Oriental College of Law. The Program began with lighting of lamp followed by the felicitation of the guest by the Principal, Oriental College of Law Dr. P.Y. Gaonkar and Vice-Principal Mrs Rupali Jamode. The Principal addressed and introduced our Chief Guest to the students. The guest further shared his words of wisdom and knowledge of law and gave guidance about the career in Law with the students. The Senior Students shared their experience with the students about College and Staff. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Vijaylaxmi Obhan student of 3rd Year LL.B.

INTRA-COLLEGE MOOT COURT COMPETITON ON 13TH OCTOBER 2018

The Oriental College of Law organised Intra-College Moot Court Competition on 13th October, 2018. The competition was judged and witnessed by the Senior Advocate, D’Silva Bombay High Court and Dr. Prakash Deshmukh. The guest was welcomed and felicitated by the Principal of Oriental College of Law, Dr. P. Y. Gaonkar, the judge also enlightened our students by his valuable words and guided the students. There were 9 groups and, in each group, had 3 participants. The Moot Court started at 9am and concluded at 1pm. The event was successfully concluded by the announcements of winners and vote of Thanks.

FIRST ORIENTATION PROGRAM - 2018

“Wisdom comes not from age, but from education and learning”.

With this Oriental College Of Law enters in the new phase of academic year 2018-19.

We are very much glad to present the first event of the academic year i.e. Orientation and Seminar on “Judicial Service and Civil Procedure Code” guided by Shri Despande Sir Civil judge (senior division), Deshmukh Sir, Principal Waseem Ahmad Sir.

The whole event was successful under the valuable guidance of our President Professor Mr. Javed Khan Sir of Oriental Education Society.

As hardwork pays, so as our hardwork of the teaching staff for gathering students for committee and their Co-Operation to make the event successful.

DEBATE COMPETITION - 2018

Oriental College of Law had organized Intra College Debate Competition on 22nd February 2018 on the topic “Should Live-in relationship be legalized in India?” Adv. Mrs. Deepti Shirsat, was the Chief guest of the event. The chief guest was welcomed and introduced by Dr. Mrs. Shitala S. Gavand, Principal, Oriental College of Law. Thereafter the competition started and same was judged by the Chief Guest. Many students participated in the event and the team comprising of Kishor Rane, Faiz Kazmi, Pawan Tiwari, Yogesh Bansal, Bhumi Vishwakarma, Poornima Singh, Yash Bangar, Devendra Pathak, Shrushti Chauhan, Sonam Singh, Akshata Thorat, Neha Mishra won the competition.  Saurabh Parashar, LLB 1st Yr won the prize of best speaker.

 

THIRD YEAR LL.B. STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THIRD MOOT COURT

Students of Third Year LL.B., Oriental College of Law, Sanpada, Navi Mumbai, participated in Moot Court held on 17/2/2018. Adv. Sooraj S. Hulke, Addl. Public Prosecutor, High Court Bombay was presiding Judge for the said Moot Court.

THIRD YEAR LL.B. STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN SECOND MOOT COURT
(AY 17-18)

Students of Third Year LL.B., Oriental College of Law, Sanpada, Navi Mumbai, participated in Moot Court held on 10/2/2018.Adv. Shreekant V. Gavand, Addl. Public Prosecutor, High Court Bombay was presiding Judge for the said Moot Court.

THIRD YEAR LL.B. STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN FIRST MOOT COURT
(AY 17-18)

Students of Third Year LL.B., Oriental College of Law, Sanpada, Navi Mumbai, participated in Moot Court held on 20/1/2018. Adv. Mr. Vinod Chate, Addl. Public Prosecutor, High Court Bombay was presiding Judge for the said Moot Court. Adv. Shreekant V. Gavand, Addl. Public Prosecutor, High Court Bombay also presided as Judge along with Mr. Chate for some time for the said Moot Court.

 

STUDENTS DAY - 2017

Oriental College of Law celebrated Students Day on 7th November, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. at the Seminar Hall of the College under the guidance and instructions of Dr. Mrs. Shitala S Gavand, Principal, Oriental College of Law. 7th November i.e. the day on which Bharat Ratna, Dr.Babasaheb Aambedkar was enrolled as a student in school is to be celebrated as Students Day every year. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is the constant source of inspiration to all the students. In order to celebrate the Students Day, the college had organised Elocution competition, Poetry Competition, Singing Competition, Dance Competition and Skit Performance for the students. The program started at 10:00 a.m.
The Chief Guest of the Program Prof. Adv. Dr. Prakash Deshmukh and the Guest of Honour Ms. Reshma Menon, were welcomed by Dr. Mrs. Shitala S. Gavand, Principal of Oriental College of Law.
Prof. Adv. Dr. Prakash Deshmukh, was the judge of the elocution and poetry competition, who is practising advocate in Hon’ble High Court, Bombay and has conducted numerous Civil, Criminal and Constitutional matters.
Ms. Reshma Menon was the Judge of the singing and dance competition who has done playback singing in Malayalam, Gujarati and Marathi films and has won various awards.
After lighting of the lamp, the program commenced with elocution competition, and then proceeded with singing competition, poetry competition, dance competition and skit competition.
The students enjoyed the event and ensure success of the competition. At the end results were declared and winners and participants were given certificate. The names of the winners are as under:

SECOND INTRA COLLEGE MOOT COURT COMPETITION

Oriental College of Law had organized Second Intra College Moot Court Competition on 16th September 2017. Many Students participated in the competition. Adv. Mrs. Veera Shinde, Asst. Govt Pleader & Addl. Public Prosecutor, High Court, Bombay and Adv. Mr. Shreekant V. Gavand, Asst. Govt Pleader & Addl. Public Prosecutor, High Court, Bombay presided over the said Moot Court to judge the competition.

Dr. Mrs. Shitala S. Gavand, Principal took efforts for organizing this moot court competition in the college. All the passionate students of the college ensure success of the competition.  At the end results were declared and the first five amongst them are as under:

  1. First prize : Ms. Subhangi Pandey (BLS, LLB Second Year – 5 Yrs)  (Certificate and Cash Prize of Rs. 2000/-)

TEACHER’S DAY - 2017

Oriental College of Law had organized BEST STUDENT LECTURER Competition on 6th September 2017 on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. The Students of Three Years Law Course and Five Years Law Course had participated in this competition. The participating students took 30 minutes lecture on any law subject of their choice. The competition was judged by the Teaching Faculty of the college. At the end results were declared and the first three amongst them are as under:

  1. First prize : Mr. Shashikant Nimbale (LLB Third Year – 3 Yrs)
  2. Second Prize : Mrs. Shital Dixit (LLB Third Year – 3 Yrs)
  3. Third Prize : Ms. Anamika Singh (BLS, LLB Third Year – 5 Yrs)

First Moot Court Competition

Oriental Law College had organized First Moot Court Competition on 11th March 2017. In all 26 Students participated in the competition. Prof. Dr. Prakash Deshmukh, Advocate High Court and Adv. Mr. Shreekant V. Gavand, Asst. Govt Pleader & Addl Public Prosecutor, High Court, Bombaypresided over the said Moot Court to judge the competition.

Asst. Prof. Shitala S. Gavand, Chairperson, Moot Court Committee, took efforts for organizing the very first moot court competition in the college. All the passionate students of the college ensure success of the competition.  At the end results were declared and the first five amongst them are as under:

    1. First prize       : Ms. Anushree Kurup (LLB Sem-VI – 3 Yrs)  (Certificate and Cash Prize of Rs. 2000/-)

Oriental College of Law had organized Elocution Competition on 17th February 2017.

Debate Competition - 2017

Oriental College of Law had organized Debate Competition on 14th February 2017 on the topic “Whether death punishment is necessary or not?” Dr. Shri. Gaikwad, was the chief guest of the event and he judged the competition.
