Study Tour to Supreme Court
Oriental Education Society’s, Oriental College of Law had organized study tour to Agra – Delhi – Supreme Court of India, from 17th March 2018 to 22nd March 2018. It was the first occasion for the College to organize Study Tour to Supreme Court. After seeking permission from the Management, Dr. Mrs. Shitala S. Gavand, Principal, Oriental College of Law took initiative to organize this study tour and Adv. Shreekant Gavand, Addl. Public Prosecutor, High Court, Bombay also accompanied the tour and both of them took efforts to obtain all necessary permissions from Supreme Court of India, Bar Council of India for this tour. Mr. Ashish Singh of M/s. Khushi Travels was the Tour Operator.
The Students enjoyed this tour a lot and due to prior planning and its proper execution, the students got opportunity to witness the actual legal proceedings in Supreme Court and also got opportunity to witness the submissions made in the matter of Aadhar Card, which is being heard by the Constitutional Bench of five judges i.e. Hon’ble the Chief Justice of India, Shri. Deepak Mishra, Hon’ble Justice Shri. A. K. Sikri, Hon’ble Justice Shri. A. M. Khanwilkar, Hon’ble Justice Shri. Dr. D. Y. Chandrachud and Hon’ble Justice Shri. Ashok Bhushan.
Day 1
17/3/2018 – Tour Participants gathered at Bandra Terminus at 3 pm and boarded 12909 Garibrath Express and proceeded towards Mathura. Almost entire bogie was occupied by the students of OCL and due to games like dumb sheraz, antakshri, etc. the journey was cheerful.
Day 2
18/3/2018 – The tour members got down at Mathura Station and bus was already waiting for them. All proceeded ahead by bus and after break-fast proceeded to Krishna Janm Bhumi Temple at Mathura. All the students were happy to visit the said temple on the occasion of gudi padawa.
From Mathura we proceeded to Agra and checked in to the hotel “Royale Residency”. After Lunch the students visited Tajmahal and after observing the beautiful monument of the world, students proceeded to see historic Agra Fort. A guide arranged by M/s. Khushi Travels accompanied the students and gave very valuable information.
At evening students retuned back to hotel and for crowning the happiness of the students, a DJ Party was organized. All the students including faculty members enjoyed the DJ Party and a special cake was also arranged for celebrating the birthday of a student.
Day 3
19/3/2018 – After breakfast, all the tour members left Agra and proceeded to Delhi and checked in to the hotel “Evok Lifestyle”. After lunch all proceeded to visit Qutub Minar, a Unesco world heritage site. From Qutub Minar, all proceeded to Sarojini Nagar Market and enjoyed shopping till late evening and then returned back to hotel.
Day 4
20/3/2018 – It was the most important day of the tour i.e. visit to Supreme Court. After breakfast, all the tour members left hotel and proceeded to Supreme Court. Since the prior permission was already obtained, after completing formality of securing gate pass, all attended the hearing in various courts rooms as per allotment and it was a fantastic experience for the students witness the actual hearing of matters before the Supreme Court and it was amazing experience for all the students and few students also got the opportunity to see hearing of much debated matter i.e. aadhar card, before the constitutional bench of Supreme Court.
After attending first session of the Court hearing students proceeded to see the Supreme Court Museum, where students learnt about evolution of judiciary, making of Supreme Court building, importance of statue of Mother and Child and Dharm Chakra Logo of the Supreme Court. The see short documentary film on the history as well as functioning of the Supreme Court was also fantastic experience.
In order to save the time, on that day students preferred packed lunch arranged by the tour operator and proceeded to visit Bar Council of India, the apex institution which regulate the legal profession throughout India. On behalf of Oriental College of Law, Dr. Mrs. Shitala Gavand, Principal gave bouquet to Mr. J. R. Sharma, Addl. Secretary & Mr. Nalendra Chaturvedi, Asst. Secretary, Bar Council of India and then both of them delivered excellent lecture on the importance and functioning of the Bar Council of India as well as State Bar Councils and after the lecture students were provided snacks and soft drink. It was also fantastic experience for students.
Mr. Shivaji Jadhav, Advocate & President, Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association had made special arrangement for visit of the students to Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, New Delhi and students got opportunity to visit temple without any trouble. The guide, who was provided, gave very minute information about the construction and importance of the said temple. After visiting the said temple, all returned back to hotel.
Day 5
21/3/2018 – After breakfast, all the tour members proceeded to visit Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum Complex. Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum Complex (RBMC) is a symbol of Indian freedom, democracy and unity. This museum gives entire details about construction of Rashtrapati Bhavan and also necessary important historic information through number of enclaves. Enclave eight is the Virtual Reality Enclave that allows visitors to walk out of Rashtrapati Bhavan with Mahatma Gandhi and all the students got an opportunity to walk with Mahatma Gandhi. The students also got an opportunity to see numerous gifts that the Presidents of India have received over the years.
After visiting Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum Complex students visited India Gate, which is a memorial to 70,000 soldiers of the Indian Army who died in the period 1914–21 in the First World War, in France, Flanders, Mesopotamia, Persia, East Africa, Gallipoli and elsewhere in the Near and the Far East, and the Third Anglo-Afghan War.
After lunch the tour participants proceeded to Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station for boarding 12910 Garibrath Express for the return journey.
Day 6
22/3/2018 – With all beautiful memories and important experience gained though visit to Supreme Court, students returned back to Bandra terminus and tour was concluded.
All the students expressed their gratitude toward Dr. Mr. Shitala Gavand, Principal, Oriental College of Law and Adv. Shreekant Gavand, Addl. Public Prosecutor, High Court, Bombay for successfully organizing the first study tour of the college
Trek to Lohagad
With kind permission of the management of Oriental Education Society, the Oriental College of Law, Sanpada, Navi Mumbai had organized its first trek to Lohagad and Bhaje Caves near Village Malavali, Tal. Maval, Dist. Pune on 10th September 2017. This trek was organized, to increase interaction amongst students and offer them an opportunity of personality development. Dr. Mrs. Shitala S. Gavand, Principal, Oriental College of Law took initiative for organizing this trek. Prof. Ravnish Bector and Clerk Ms. Ashwini Bhanuse also attended this trek.
Tour started at 7:30 a.m. with journey through Bus from College to village Bhaje. At village Bhaje participants had breakfast. The first phase of trek was from Village Bhaje to Lohagad wadi of about four Kms and then from Lohagad Wadi to the Lohagad Fort which rises to an elevation of 1,033 m (3,389 ft) above sea level. From the Top of the fort we can see Fort Visapur, Fort Tung, Fort Tikona and beautiful dam water of Pawana lake. On the Fort there are two beautiful lakes, a dargha, mahadev temple, a big cave Laxmi Kothi and many other places.
After returning back to Lohagadwadi participants had lunch and then return back to Village Baje at about 5 pm. Thereafter participants visited Baje Caves, a group of 22 rock cut caves dating back to the 2nd century BC. The caves are 400 feet above the village of Bhaje. The caves have a number of stupas and the most prominent excavation is its chaityagrha.
Participants left village Baje at around 6:30 p.m. and return back to Oriental College of law at about 8:30 p.m.
